The State Legislature is responding to the over reaching Federal government with several bills addressing state sovereignty. Health Care is leading the way with non-binding resolutions to tell the Missouri Congressional Delegation to vote no on the Federal Health Care scheme and asking the Missouri Attorney General to write a letter requesting an investigation into the Constitutionality of the Cornhusker Kickback to a state Constitutional amendment to provide Missourians the option to particiapte in any Federal health care plan, or not.

Many believe that the Federal power grab has been occuring in the last year - WRONG. Federal encroachment has been happening very subtley over years, some more subtle than others, under Democrat and Republican Congress and Presidents! That consideration is what makes SB 587 ans SJR 34.

Both bills would require the establishment of a Commission that would be charged with identifying Federal laws that violate the 10th Amendment. Those violations would be turned over to the Attorney General to bring suit on those laws. You can imagine how daunting the task will be during the first review!
