Here is information about the Phoenix and Tucson Tax Day Tea Parties on April 15th:

Phoenix Tax Day Tea Party

When: Wed., April 15, 2009 5:30 - 7:00 pm

Where: Arizona State Capitol, Senate Lawn

Who: The AZ chapter of American for Prosperity (www.aztaxpayers.org), KFYI 550 AM, Prop 13 Arizona, Arizona Tax Revolt, AmericanPoliticalAnalysis.com, Arizona FairTax, Arizonans in Action, many other allied pro-taxpayer organizations, a thousand-plus taxpayer activists from around the state, Congressman John Shadegg, Arizona Sen. Russell Pearce and Arizona’s best legislators, and several local media personalities, including J.D Hayworth, Bruce Jacobs, and Mike Broomhead of KFYI, and Austin Hill of 92.3 KTAR. Why: We need to protest (and stop!) the tax increases proposed by big-spending politicians at the federal, state, and local levels.

How: Please let us know you which tea party you will attend by sending an email to infoAZ@afphq.org. Bring friends, family, and co-workers. And bring signs with big letters for the TV cameras! We will have stations set up where you can fill out and mail postcards to President Obama and to your Congress members. (Please bring 50 cents to cover the postage for two postcards.)

Parking: We strongly suggest arriving early. This map shows overflow parking at agency buildings near the Legislature, but early-birds will be able to park in the lots next to Wesley Bolin Park (east of 17th Avenue), and west of the Executive Tower (east of 19th Avenue). Carpooling with friends is a good idea!

What to Bring: Please bring water, snacks, and a chair, if you want one. Also, please bring 50 cents to cover the postage for two postcards (one will go to President Obama, and one will go to your Congressman/woman). We will bring the postcards and labels, and we will have a postcard mailing station set up. All you will have to do is add your return address and a personal message.

Ideas for signs: Make sure you write with big, bold letters for the TV cameras. Some ideas:

No new taxes! No more bailouts!
Don’t tax MY grandchildren with YOUR debt!

(Of course, you will come up with something much more clever!)

Who: The AZ chapter of American for Prosperity, allied pro-taxpayer organizations, Rep. Frank Antenori, hundreds (thousands?) of taxpayer activists from Southern Arizona, and several local media personalities, including Jim Parisi of 790 KNST and Jon Justice of 104.1 the Truth.
