NIC Rally, Dover, OHTwo thousand activists filled the grandstand at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds in Dover today for Americans for Prosperity's November Is Coming Rally. A steady stream of cars rolled into the fairgrounds starting about an hour before the event. The crowd was fired-up and clearly fed-up with the out-of-control spending by politicians in Washington. Americans for Prosperity Ohio State Director Rebecca Heimlich explained that this rally is part of a nationwide effort by AFP to let citizens know how big government policies in Washington will kill jobs, increase Ohioans' cost of living, and make the government reach even further into our pocketbooks at tax time. Phil Kerpen, Americans for Prosperity's Vice President of Policy, emceed the event, energized the crowd, and drove home how big government policies like cap and trade will affect us right here in Ohio. The crowd heard from local business owners John Raese, Keith Kimble, and Steve Stokey about how legislation like cap and trade would damage their businesses and their ability to create jobs. Mike Carey, President of the Ohio Coal Association, explained that cap-and-trade type policies would kill coal jobs in Ohio and cause our energy prices to skyrocket. 18th Congressional district Congressional Candidate Bob Gibbs told the crowd that we have to stop cap-and-tax and repeal ObamaCare. Dick Morris illustrated the devastating effect of the national debt on our economy and told the crowd that the way out of our economic distress is not more taxes, but tax cuts that will allow businesses in the private sector to prosper.
