Changing the Nation, One State at a Time
Dear Friends of Prosperity,
We are only days away from the 2010 Americans for Prosperity Foundation’s Defending the American Dream Summit and Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor Rally. The North Carolina team is so excited to have you joining us.
On August 27th, over 400 activists from North Carolina will join hundreds from across the country as we gather at the Marriott Wardman in DC, demonstrating to elected officials, government bureaucrats and the national media that there exists a real and powerful grassroots movement focused on reining in out of control spending and taxation, advancing sound free market public policy, and in a very real way, defending the American Dream. Then, the AFP activists will join thousands of activists from across the country on August 28th for the historic Restoring Honor Rally at the Lincoln Memorial.
Attached is a packet of information that includes a preliminary itinerary, departure location and time for each city, and general information. If you need any additional information, please call our office (919-839-1011). During the last couple of days before our departure, you may also call Jeff Mixon (919.796.9895) or Chris Marie Farr (919-218-5071) on their personal cell phones.
I look forward to being with you at the Summit and the Rally and I know it will be a memorable weekend for us all.
Thanks again for joining us in the fight for PROSPERITY!
Best regards,
Dallas H. Woodhouse

Please leave early to catch the bus Friday morning allowing time for rush hour traffic, road construction, and getting lost. The buses must stay on schedule to get to DC on time.
Our charter buses have bathrooms. Every bus should have at least one smoke/bathroom stop. Please feel free to bring snacks and drinks for the bus ride. Small coolers are fine.
The Itinerary basically lets you know what schedule we will try to follow. We will take head counts on each bus on the way to DC, on the way to the Omi at 5:30 pm Friday and on the way home. But the rest of the time we are in DC, bus captains will not take head counts because you are really free to do as you please, take alternative transportation, etc. and we will not be able to keep up with everyone’s varying plans.
Your bus captain will get the cell phone number from everyone on the bus. Everyone on the bus definitely needs to get the bus captain’s phone number. You also have NC staff cell phone numbers. Keep those numbers handy and don’t hesitate to call.
Friday – What you wear when you get on the bus is what you will wear to lunch and opening/breakout sessions.
Comfortable and casual is just fine. For you folks that get cool, take a sweater for the bus ride.
Friday night—Most people will wear business casual or business dress but you will also see blue jeans and
cocktail dresses. We are just glad you are there.
Saturday – Cool and comfortable. You will wear these clothes from morning until night. We will make stops on the way home, though, so you can keep a tote on the bus with sweater, change of clothes, if you wish.
Comfortable walking shoes – All weekend long but especially on Saturday.
What to Tote
I would highly recommend carrying some type of tote bag in Washington, D.C. You may keep the Itinerary, Summit materials, camera, water, umbrella, medicine, etc. and anything else that you may need for an entire day away from your luggage. You may also want to bring a light jacket or sweater in case the temperature in the hotel is cool.
You will be allowed to take tote, bagged chair, small cooler, camera, flag, blanket, etc. to the Rally. I also recommend bottled water, sunscreen, hat, etc. Keep in mind, though, that there will be a lot of walking and you have to carry this stuff. Glenn Beck has discouraged signs at this rally.
Consider putting something on your bagged chairs and luggage to make it easily identifiable.
