Americans for Prosperity Foundation Launches New TV Ad: “Wasteful Government Spending Hurts Small Business”

$1.4 million TV ad buy runs in 13 media markets and features small business owner

A new television ad will run in four states and 13 media markets beginning Thursday, August 26, to educate citizens about the straining effects of wasteful government spending on small businesses. To view the ad, click here.

The ad states that small businesses create two-thirds of new jobs in America, “but at every turn, Washington is making it harder for small business to succeed.”

The ad features a small business owner who says that the federal government has wasted “billions to bail out Wall Street giants that created the mess and nothing for Main Street, billions more wasted in the stimulus, and now, a health care law that threatens small business with taxes and fines.”

The small business owner asks about the future of her employees: “What will I tell good people if I have to lay them off?”

The $1.4 million ad buy will run on network and cable channels in Arizona and Florida starting August 26, and will continue through September 8. The ad will also run in Ohio and Pennsylvania beginning August 30th. The TV ad is part of Americans for Prosperity Foundation’s Spending Crisis initiative, which educates citizens on the disastrous effects of wasteful government spending.

“Washington’s wasteful spending habits have hurt America’s small businesses,” said Tim Phillips, president of Americans for Prosperity Foundation. “We can’t afford to oppress the entrepreneurial spirit in this country at a time when we desperately need jobs.”

This TV ad buy is the second this month organized by Spending Crisis, following a $4.1 million ad buy running in 13 states.

Both ads encourage citizens to go to http://www.SpendingCrisis.org/ where they can share examples of wasteful spending in their area.
