Regarding the designation, Venable said, “I am honored to be included, particularly among so many individuals who I respect.”

“This listing confirms the significant difference Americans for Prosperity’s members make in public policy decision-making. We don’t get involved in patrician political races, so our core competency is in educating and mobilizing citizens on policy issues,” said Venable.

AFP-Texas has grown to over 90,000 members this year under Venable’s leadership.

“Though I am appreciative and humbled to have been included in the list, and appreciative of the role AFP plays in providing me this forum,” Venable said. “We have a small but dedicated staff. Our success is thanks to Eliza Vielma and Cindy Mallette along with part-timers Lou Ann Anderson and Christopher Covo as well as our Citizen Watchdog and activist leaders. Our national leadership provides us with policy support, but does what Washington, D.C. should do – allow the states the opportunity to innovate and make decisions which impact their own operations.”

Peggy Venable has been a taxpayer advocate in Texas since 1994 when she returned to Texas from 13 years in Washington, D.C. working for the Reagan Administration, the Republican National Committee, and the Bush 41 Administration.

“I am delighted to be included on the list, but I will admit that my dog Gipper still doesn’t mind me, my daughter doesn’t always take my advice and the auto repair shop still won’t return my calls,” quipped Venable.
