AFP-Kansas is hosting a film screening for the new movie, "Tea Party: The Documentary Film." It follows five grassroots activists in their transformation from hometown rally organizers to national activists in the 912 March on Washington.

Join us at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 20 at Liberty Theater in Fort Scott (113 S. Main, Fort Scott). The $10 admission fee includes the film screening and your own copy of the tea party movie DVD.

Canard is a funny word.

It pops into my head any time another self-anointed do-gooder claims government spending equals economic growth.

Canard means a false report – and we’ve got lots and lots of them about these claims.

If I take $20,000 from my neighbor and hire a gardener, the economy certainly hasn’t grown by $20,000. It’s simply been a shift of money. Rearranging the furniture in your living room doesn’t increase the number of easy chairs or TVs.
